Chic Outfit from the Thrift Store

Do you have that one person in the office whose outfits are always on point?

Ever ask that person where she got that top, skirt, etc?

Does she respond with an outlet or second hand store, like Goodwill?

Do you then think to yourself, “Ugh, I could never pull off shopping there”?

Well, the truth is, you CAN pull it off! I found these jeans, blouse, AND purse at Goodwill for under $20 total. I fell in love with the jeans. The distressed style of these patchwork flare jeans really caught my eye. Since the jeans are the statement piece of the look, I paired them with a plain, white, button up top. The blouse is made up of a satin-type of material which helped to maintain the upscale casual chic look I was going for (is this a thing?).

The shoes are from Topshop. They are more comfortable than they look. The silver color was the perfect accent for this look. The silver shoes brought out the rest of the outfit as well as the jewelry.

The earrings and bracelet are from a boutique in Lincoln Park, Chicago called Viktoria’s. Sadly, the boutique closed for good back in August. Viktoria has decided to pursue her dream of starting her own fashion line. Best of luck, Viktoria!

An Adorable Puppy + Yellow Floral Summer Dress

Chicago summers are filled with bike rides along the lake, Navy Pier fireworks, Cubs baseball game, people watching at Lollapalooza, and much more. There is never a dull moment in this city, especially in the summer.

Sometimes, though, the weather does not agree with your plans. For example, mother nature will not care that you are having a photo shoot for your first blog post. The heat will be cranked way up and the humidity will be high. Your make up will melt off of your face and your hair will grow twice its size as you desperately try to look “blogger chic” and effortless in your pictures.

To all the style bloggers out there, I mean… like…. how do you do it??

To stay cool (& help me look like less of a hot mess), I paired this Zara midi length dress with some minimalistic black sandals from Nordstrom Rack. One of the many great things about this dress is that you can wear it in the summer or in the fall. The fabric is like chiffon which makes it light enough to wear in the summer. The deeper yellow color is perfect as a summer to fall transition color. To complete a fall look, pair this dress with a darker denim or black leather jacket and some peep toe ankle booties.
